Memorial Day Madness
In the madness of planning the family barbecue or that ever-precious weekend away just because we have an ‘extra day’, let’s take a moment to take a deep breath and remember….
Let’s remember why we have that extra weekend day and the freedom to plan the barbecue…
Every year during the month of May, we remember those who went to war but did not survive the great fight. We honor the military fallen heroes of history in our Memorial Day presentations. We read the quotes from soldiers reflecting on the wars they fought.
So in today’s newsletter, I thought I would share a few of my favorite Memorial Day quotes. Perhaps you would like to use one in a prayer or wish of safety for the brave men and women that protect us.
‘Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends’ John 15:13
‘ Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.’ Billy Graham
‘ In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.’ Martin Luther King, Jr.
‘ As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words but to live by them.’ John F. Kennedy
Happy Memorial Day!
God Bless America!

Memorial Day Recipe Ideas
I thought it would be fun to share a couple of healthy recipes that would be fun at a Memorial Day barbecue.
A couple of my favorites are:
- Cabo Chicken Skewers:Chicken marinated in a spicy, citrusy yogurt skewered with veggies – yum! The yogurt marinade ensures a delectable moist bite of chicken!
- If you feel for red meat, try Coffee-Cocoa Spiced Leg of Lamb with Cherry Sauce: Smoky spiced, butterflied leg of lamb one the grill is a delicious treat for hungry red-meat eaters.
A couple of salad ideas to pair with you skewers are:
- Marinated Black Bean Salad: This dish is super-easy to make and filling! So if you have a hungry crowd, it’s a great option.
- Chaud-Froid Salad: A hearty salad that will satisfy even the biggest of appetites. Chaud-Froid means hot-cold in French. This salad is made with both cooked and raw ingredients, has super anti-inflammatory properties and is filled with flavor!
